Topshop's Best Design Collaborations

1. Christopher Kane

Obviously Christopher Kane is number 1 on the list, he is one of the most established British designers today. When he joined Topshop back in 2007, his brand was only a year old. His 2009 Topshop collection was definitely one of the most memorable.

2. Mary Katrantzou

Everyone went wild for Mary's prints when she showed her first collection at London Fashion Week in 2008. Topshop also took note of how popular her designs were and brought her in to design three capsule collections, the biggest of which launched back in 2012 featuring dresses, trousers, T-shirts, blouses and skirts.
"It's very exciting to work with Topshop for our third range together. They've been so supportive of my work from the very beginning and this range will be the most ambitious one we've done and the most fun. My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl, a range that os as close to the aesthetic of my mainline as possible, with great control over the quality of design and production. I can't wait to see the Topshop girls in the bowl dresses and for the most daring to try the print on print layering."

3. Richard Nicoll

His most notable collaboration with Topshop was the brands very first bridal line in 2012. The collection featured seven dressed that could be worn as a bride or a wedding guest outfit. The collection comprises of 7 dresses, full length and short, featuring lace and silk dresses in both pure white and pale shell pink.
"I loved the idea of doing wedding dresses with Topshop because I wanted to offer a younger, cooler alternative to meringue culture, something special, but not precious, like my friends, something they would wear if they were getting married. These pieces are perfect as party dresses too if you're not the marrying kind.

4. Jonathan Saunders

In 2010 he designed four exclusive pieces for Topshop, since then he has dressed celebrities such as Madonna and Michelle Obama, he was also chief creative officer at Diane Von Furstenberg.
Spring/Summer 2010- "A five-piece collection of denim and devore pieces land and signal a new direction for the designer. Moving away from the print pieces that made his name, he has delved into the world of geometrics and clean cuts, as perfectly illustrated by his high-street capsule."
Himself when talking about his work with Topshop... "My collection for Topshop this season has been inspired by sportswear and workwear, as well as the bold and graphic shapes of the Memphis movement. It's perfect for urban city dwellers."

5. Meadham Kirchhoff

Novelty designs made the brand instant success after it's launch in 2006. In 2013, the due behind the brand released Topshop's biggest offering in a designer collaboration to date, featuring 80 of their signature whimsical pieces.
The range was inspired by it's dream girl band, although the line also has a Magic Roundabout feel to it- the footwear especially, in all their chunky, almost childlike glory. There is less of the romantic darkness that diehard fans of the label might expect , although attention to detail is still paramount, as is the irreverent femininity that the designers are known for.

6. Ashish

Acclaimed designer Ashish Gupta designed a total of 10 collections for Topshop, meaning 10 years of working with the brand, making it one of the longest lasting collaborations. The final capsule was released in 2014, featuring light up trainers and PVC backpacks. He designed ready-to-wear collections mixing his bold sportswear style with a feminine grace. The classic Ashish wardrobe is not complete without sequin sweatpants- sequins being his favourite fabric and slogan tees, inspiration coming from pop culture to Hollywood glamour.

8. Preen

Also known as Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. Designed a range of pieces for Topshop in 2010 alongside Jonathan Saunders. Describing their collaboration with the brand, designer Justin Thornton said "What's so great about Topshop is that they have always been big supporters of young designers and emerging talent. Rather than just being a worldwide high street brand Topshop also gives a little back and supports people."

9. Marques' Almeida (Marta Marques & Paulo Almeida)

Topshop X Marques' Almeida launched in 2014, bringing the brands popular raw-edge denim and 90's style to the high street. The brand went on to win the Emerging Womenswear Designer at the British Fashion Awards that same year.
"We got to dig deep into our 90's research and our obsession with teenage clothes. We went back to all of our earlier references, like Corinne Day's shoots of Kate Moss when she was 15 and street style pages from 90's magazines and we mixed them up with our new materials and shapes. It was a fun way of doing a lot of things we always wanted to do and to think about how a cool, younger girl would wear them."
