Structure & Content

+ Any written piece needs a clear beginning, middle and end+ 
-Critically what you write about needs to be logical. 
  • Title Page 
  • Contents Page 
  • Introduction 
  • Mid Section- key issues under discussion 
  • Conclusion 
  • Recommendations (research and findings)
  • Bibliography 
  • Appendices 
Title Page: Institution, title of piece, your name, BA (Hons)

Contents Page: Page numbers and what you can find on each of the pages

Introduction: A quick overview, all key points, just a flavour/brief explanation of what your research and findings may extract. 

Main Body:
2- Main Heading (Topshop) 
2.1- Research Findings
2.2- Initial Analysis 
2.3- Current Findings 

etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc 

5- Conclusion 
6- Recommendations: What are they? What issues sit with the brand? What are they doing wrong? How can it be improved?
7- Bibliography: All long (full) referencing throughout the bibliography 
8- Appendices: Used to relate any information that connects to the context but not in the actual essay itself. e.g. Questionnaires, full quotes. Things that are important but not important enough to include in the main report. 

Things To Remember
  • Use an easy to read font
  • Paragraphs and punctuation, always check grammar and proof read everything! 
  • Add visuals and discuss/explain them 
  • Add quotes under key points for evidence (PEE) helpful to back up any claims 
  • Page numbers to help with referencing, so the reader can easily find exactly what they are looking for 
  • Reference as regular as possible to avoid plagiarism 
  • Long referencing in bibliography 
  • Be objective (not your subjective view)
  • Comparison running through the text; build your case/debate regarding the brands strengths and weaknesses, think about both sides of the argument 
  • Good balance of primary and secondary research (use physical aswell as the internet)
