Group Task: Recommendations for M&S, what improvements could be made?
When people hear M&S they immediately think of shopping for 'old' people because of its contents and the way its presented.

-Have more options for older generations
-Create new/unique designs to add originality
-Competitors have a lot more variety compared to M&S, e.g. John Lewis and Next
-The staff wear outdated uniform (a lot of it looks like office wear) and its not really relevant to todays fashion
-A lot of the staff are older people, not bringing in a younger demographic
-They could re-vamp their logo so it looks more exciting and more appealing to younger audience, along with this, the window displays are very beige and boring, nothing really stands out
-A lot of the average items are overpriced that you can easily get elsewhere for less money

-One competitor, Tesco, sell similar items for a cheaper price
-They don't encourage younger people at all, very rarely take advantage of social media and the website is very boxy which even the older generation might find hard to navigate
-Social media could be a massive help to M&S, people are ALWAYS using social media

-One way to encourage younger people is maybe offer student discount, people on a budget won't even step foot in the place because they already know how pricey some items are, offering discount might sway them in the right direction
-They are a sustainable brand and items are high quality but the price turns the consumers away because the designs are basic and average
-Collabs with people such as Holly Willoughby is all very good but she's not really a good example for the younger ones, she's a middle aged mum
-The store layout is very boring and simple, it's a bit all over the place and hard to navigate, nothing really catches your eye and stands out
-Maybe a smaller underwear section and a bigger kids section, or even introduce a 25+ clothing line
-Having the foodcourt in the same shop/building as the clothing areas is a little strange, are people going clothes shopping or food shopping? It's a little overwhelming
